The Claude Cheat Sheet
If you use Claude Code, a handful of shortcuts and slash commands save you a lot of time. Here are the ones worth memorising. Skim it once, keep it handy, and you will move a lot faster.
Keyboard shortcuts
- Shift + Tab Cycle modes: Normal, Auto-accept, Plan
- Esc Interrupt the response
- Esc, Esc Rewind to restore an earlier state
- Ctrl + O Toggle the verbose transcript
- Option + T Toggle extended thinking
- Option + P Open the model picker
- Shift + Enter New line without sending
- Ctrl + G Open your external editor
Slash commands
- /clear Wipe the conversation history
- /compact Summarize context to save space
- /model Switch model (e.g. /model opus)
- /resume Browse and resume past sessions
- /init Create a CLAUDE.md project file
- /memory Edit your CLAUDE.md memory
- /cost Show token usage
- /help The full command list
Tips
- The two that change everything: Shift+Tab for modes, and Esc Esc to rewind a mistake.
- Run /compact when a long session starts to slow down, instead of starting over.
