The Claude Cheat Sheet

If you use Claude Code, a handful of shortcuts and slash commands save you a lot of time. Here are the ones worth memorising. Skim it once, keep it handy, and you will move a lot faster.

Keyboard shortcuts

  • Shift + Tab Cycle modes: Normal, Auto-accept, Plan
  • Esc Interrupt the response
  • Esc, Esc Rewind to restore an earlier state
  • Ctrl + O Toggle the verbose transcript
  • Option + T Toggle extended thinking
  • Option + P Open the model picker
  • Shift + Enter New line without sending
  • Ctrl + G Open your external editor

Slash commands

  • /clear Wipe the conversation history
  • /compact Summarize context to save space
  • /model Switch model (e.g. /model opus)
  • /resume Browse and resume past sessions
  • /init Create a CLAUDE.md project file
  • /memory Edit your CLAUDE.md memory
  • /cost Show token usage
