Guide
Sell Your Unused Items with Claude
Claude can turn a pile of item photos into an organised selling workflow: identify each item, research comparable sales, write the listing, and prepare marketplace drafts in a browser. Treat every identification and price as an estimate until you verify the model and condition. Keep the final publish button, buyer messages, offer acceptance, payment, and meetup details under your control.

How to use it
- 1
Photograph and inventory every item
Use bright, even light and take the front, back, labels, model details, included accessories, and every visible flaw. Hide serial numbers, addresses, faces, documents, and anything else a public listing should not reveal.
I am uploading photos of items I may sell. Create an inventory table with one row per item. For each item, record the likely category, brand, model or version, colour or size, included accessories, visible condition, visible flaws, details I need to confirm, and your identification confidence as high, medium, or low. Separate facts visible in the photos from guesses. Do not invent a model, specification, authenticity claim, or condition detail. Ask me for any missing information that would materially affect the price.
Claude - 2
Confirm the identification
Check Claude's inventory against the item itself. Confirm model numbers, storage capacity, size, age, working condition, accessories, and defects before asking for a valuation.
Before pricing anything, show me the minimum set of details I must confirm for each item. Flag items that may need an authenticity check, functional test, serial or model lookup, or additional photo. Do not estimate a final price until the important details are confirmed.
Claude - 3
Research comparable sales
Ask Claude to use recent, closely matched sold or completed listings where possible. Active asking prices are useful context, but they do not prove what buyers actually paid.
Research a realistic resale range for every confirmed item using current market evidence. Prefer recent sold or completed listings that match the exact model, condition, accessories, and region. Separate sold prices from active asking prices. For every comparable, include the marketplace, item match, condition, observed price, shipping if shown, date checked, and source link. Exclude obvious bundles, parts-only listings, different models, and outliers. Then recommend four numbers in my local currency: a list price, expected sale price, quick-sale price, and minimum price for me to consider. Explain how platform fees, shipping, condition, and local demand affect the estimate. If reliable evidence is missing, say that the value is uncertain instead of guessing.
Claude - 4
Write the listing pack
Have Claude write honest, platform-ready copy for each item. The description should disclose known defects and avoid claims that the photos or your checks do not support.
Now create a listing pack for each item. Include: a concise searchable title, category, condition, full description, bullet list of included items, all known defects, recommended list price, expected sale range, pickup or shipping notes, five useful search keywords, and the best photo order. Keep the language natural and factual. Do not use fake urgency, unsupported authenticity claims, or hide damage. Add a final checklist of details I must verify before publishing.

Connect Cowork to your browser
In Claude Desktop, open Settings, choose Connectors, find Claude in Chrome, select Configure, and toggle it on. Install the extension if prompted, then enable the connector for the Cowork conversation. Depending on your account, Cowork may also offer a built-in browser.
- 6
Prepare marketplace drafts
Ask Cowork to open the marketplaces you choose, match each item to the correct platform and category, upload the right photos, and fill the listing fields. Sites may require sign-in, permissions, CAPTCHA, or manual image handling, and some may not support saved drafts.
Using the browser available in this Cowork session, open Facebook Marketplace and any other selling sites I explicitly approve. For each item, prepare a draft listing using the correct photos, verified title, description, condition, category, location, delivery option, and price from this chat. Follow each platform's current rules. Do not publish a listing, accept terms, change my account settings, enter payment details, or message anyone. Stop at the final review screen for each item. If a site does not support drafts or blocks browser automation, leave the form as complete as possible and tell me exactly what I must finish manually.
Claude - 7
Review and publish yourself
Check the item, photos, defects, category, location, delivery terms, price, fees, and privacy details before publishing. Remove any serial numbers or background information that should not be public.
- 8
Schedule a buyer-message review
Cowork scheduled tasks can run automatically, but Anthropic advises against unattended tasks that send messages or take consequential actions. Schedule a low-risk review that summarises new messages and drafts replies without sending or accepting anything.
Create a daily scheduled task that reviews new buyer messages only through the connectors or browser access I have explicitly enabled. Produce a table with the item, buyer question or offer, asking price, offer amount, estimated net proceeds after fees and shipping, scam or safety flags, and your recommended response. Draft a short reply for my review. Never send a message, accept or reject an offer, change a listing price, share my address or phone number, arrange a meetup, or make a payment decision. If inbox access is unavailable or requires local browser access, tell me what I need to open and do manually.

Tips
- Use sold or completed listings, not only active asking prices. An unsold listing is not proof of market value.
- Match the exact model, condition, accessories, location, and sale format before treating a comparable as useful.
- Keep manual approval on for marketplaces. Money, messages, and account changes deserve direct review.
- Never publish a serial number, full address, phone number, payment details, ID, or private document.
- Keep conversations and payment on the marketplace where possible. Be wary of verification codes, overpayments, gift cards, courier-payment links, and pressure to move off-platform.
- For in-person sales, meet in a public place, tell someone where you are going, and confirm cleared payment before handing over the item.
