Move Your ChatGPT Memory to Claude
If ChatGPT already knows your projects, your style, and your preferences, you do not have to start from scratch in Claude. Claude has a built-in import that pulls all of that context across. Here is the exact process.

Start the import in Claude

How to use it

Open Claude on desktop
Go to Claude in a browser on a computer.

Start the memory import
Profile icon, then Settings, then Capabilities, then “Import memories from other AI providers”, then Start Import.

Copy Claude's import prompt
Claude hands you a special prompt built to pull your context out of ChatGPT. Copy the whole thing.

Run it in ChatGPT
Open a new ChatGPT chat (memory on, desktop, a thinking model if you have one). Paste the prompt and send.

Copy ChatGPT's export
It generates a structured export of what it has learned about you. Copy all of it, with nothing cut off.

Paste it back into Claude
Return to Claude's import box and paste it in. Claude processes it and starts using it.
Tips
- Review the export first and delete anything personal or outdated before importing.
