Edit Videos With Claude and Remotion
Remotion has an official Claude Code plugin that helps Claude create and edit video projects through React code. It can build cuts, captions, punch-ins, headlines, graphics, and layouts, then update them when you ask for changes. This happens inside a local Remotion project, not ordinary Claude Chat, and you still need to review the pacing, caption accuracy, and final export.

Official Claude Code plugin
Claude Code + Remotion
Remotion's official plugin teaches Claude Code how to create and edit video projects with React. Claude changes the code, Remotion Studio shows the result, and you approve the final render.
Cuts and pacing
Build a timeline from your footage and revise trims through code.
Punch-ins and motion
Add zooms, transitions, layouts, and animated emphasis.
Captions and headlines
Style accurate subtitles and on-screen hooks from a transcript.
Prompted revisions
Ask Claude to change the React code, then review the update in Studio.

Cuts
No clipped words, awkward jumps, or missing context.
Captions
Every word is accurate, readable, and timed correctly.
Motion
Zooms and transitions support the point instead of causing a headache.
Claims
Headlines do not invent facts or promise results the video cannot prove.

How to use it
- 1
Install Claude and Claude Code
Download Claude if you do not already have it. The Remotion plugin runs in Claude Code, so use the Code workspace rather than a normal chat.
- 2
Install the official Remotion plugin
Open a terminal and run these two official commands. Restart Claude Code after installation so it loads the plugin and its skills.

Create a local video project
Open a new folder in Claude Code and ask it to create a blank Remotion project. You can also use Remotion's official setup command yourself.
Create a new blank Remotion project in a folder called social-video. Install the official Remotion Agent Skills, start Remotion Studio, and tell me the local preview URL. Do not create the edit yet.

Add your footage and transcript
Put the video in the project's public folder so Remotion can use it. Add an accurate transcript or caption file when possible. Claude cannot make perfect cuts or captions from context it does not have.
- 5
Give Claude the full edit brief
Tell Claude the output format, audience, pacing, caption style, and what must stay accurate. Ask for a plan before it changes the timeline.
Use the Remotion plugin to turn public/source-video.mp4 into a polished 9:16 social edit. Keep the speaker's meaning accurate. First inspect the media duration and create an edit plan with proposed cut points. If you cannot read the spoken audio reliably, stop and ask me for a transcript. After I approve the plan: remove clear dead air and repeated takes, add restrained punch-in zooms for emphasis, create accurate word-timed captions from the approved transcript, add short on-screen headlines for the main points, and keep all text inside mobile-safe margins. Use clean transitions only when they help the story. Do not invent words, claims, footage, or results. Show the complete edit in Remotion Studio and wait for my approval before rendering.

Review it in Remotion Studio
Play the full edit. Check every cut, caption, headline, zoom, transition, and safe margin. Tell Claude exactly what to change, then watch the updated version before exporting.
Revise the current Remotion edit with these changes: [LIST CHANGES WITH TIMECODES]. Keep everything else unchanged. Show me the updated Studio preview and summarize the code sections you changed. Do not render until I approve it.

Render the approved version
Once the Studio preview is right, ask Claude to render the final file. Check the exported video from beginning to end before posting it.
Render the approved composition as a high-quality MP4. Save it in the out folder with a clear filename. When it finishes, tell me the exact file path, resolution, frame rate, duration, and file size.

Tips
- Remotion is a code-based video framework. Claude edits the project code, while Remotion Studio gives you the visual preview.
- Replace make it viral with a real brief: audience, platform, length, pacing, caption style, and desired action.
- Give Claude an approved transcript for accurate captions and better cut decisions.
- Use timestamps when requesting revisions. It is much clearer than saying fix the bit near the middle.
- Review Remotion's license and pricing terms before using it for commercial client work.
